European Union browser ballot 03/11/2010
Very shortly, European Union users of the Streaming Internet Radio toolbar will be offered a choice as to what browser is to be used for accessing the internet. Your choice is important. Users will choose between 12 different browsers, ranging from well-known browsers such as Internet Explorer, Firefox and Opera, to some more obscure software, such as K-meleon and Sleipnir. Why the choice? Microsoft was forced to introduce the browser "ballot box" following a ruling by the European Commission that Microsoft's practice of pre-installing Internet Explorer on every new computer was anti-competitive. The Commission accepted Microsoft’s offer of rolling out the ballot box across its range of Windows machines, which it believes will make it easier for computer users to choose an alternative browser to Internet Explorer. Which operating system? The ballot box will be pushed to Windows users running XP, Vista and Windows 7, via an automatic software update, and will only be shown to computer users who are not already running a different default browser. What should you do? The Streaming Internet Radio toolbar currently works with Internet Explorer, Firefox and Safari browsers (Apple Mac). If you are happy with your current browser set-up, you should do nothing. If you wish to change your browser from Internet Explorer, we suggest that you upgrade to Firefox. Should you change to another browser that isn't supported by our software, you will no longer be able to access our toolbar system. You have been loving our games menu! 03/03/2010
The games menu which we added to your toolbar last week has become the third most popular item on your toolbar - I'm amazed at how quickly it has become popular. Thanks to everyone - don't forget to tell your friends about the games you have been playing. What's your favourite game? To get the above games in your browser, and to play for free, please visit our download page. Reframe it - comment and chat 02/27/2010
Google friend connect was a great idea, but it slowed loading times of pages on the site, and often crashed. As a result of this, I've opted to close the friend connect service on the Streaming Internet Radio toolbar website - however, it has been replaced by something much better. We have teamed up with Reframeit and have added a button to the right of your browser window. Clicking the window will open a new sidebar where you can discuss our content. Reframeit is available on your toolbar - it makes commenting on any website a breeze. You can sign in with Twitter, Facebook, or your Open ID. Soon, the Reframeit menu will be moved from the Social Networking part of your toolbar so that you can communicate with the Reframeit community much more easily - watch this space! A few weeks ago, we moved content on the Streaming Internet Radio toolbar to free up space for new content. That content has now been added to your toolbar. Now, you can check out similar websites to the one you are currently on by clicking a link. You can check out the latest in viral videos and can also play a selection of top, free games. If you are looking for the RSS feed reader on your toolbar - don't worry. It hasn't been deleted. it has been moved to the left of the radio player to make way for the new content. Over the coming weeks, we will be reviewing how popular the new content is. Please tell us what you think of the new additions. You can reply via this blog post, or through our contact form. We have decided to introduce a new toolbar to our toolbar grouping system. The reason for this change is to streamline our social offering. It makes more sense to have one social networking toolbar, rather than one toolbar for each network. The Tweeterbar and the Facebooking toolbars will soon disappear from the Streaming Internet Radio toolbar group menu - they will be replaced by the Socialiser toolbar. What do you have to do? Nothing. The change will happen automatically. What's different about the Socialiser toolbar? Not much. As we previously mentioned - the change is happening because it makes sense to have one toolbar than many. The Socialiser toolbar gives you quick access to different services. We offer support for Facebook, Twitter, Google Buzz and many more social networking sites. I don't want to lose my other toolbars Don't worry - the Tweeterbar and Facebooking toolbars have not been deleted, they have just been removed from our default toolbar offering. If you wish to continue to use them, you can do so - please note that you may need to download and install to use them. Google Buzz bookmarklet 02/11/2010
We are proud to release our free Google Buzz bookmarklet to the web. The bookmarklet will generate a pop-up window in your browser which allows you to share webpages via Google Buzz (through Google Reader). Please share it with your friends (Right click & Add to Favourites): Please note that the above bookmarklet is the basic version of our script. The version contained within the Streaming Internet Radio toolbar allows you to highlight text on a webpage and to automatically incorporate into a Google Buzz. Now enabled with Google Buzz 02/11/2010
Google Buzz is the new application to be integrated with Gmail - think of Buzz as a way of sharing information with your email contacts. If you have Gmail, no set-up is required. With Buzz, you can share information to the world, or just to your friends. you can see images with your posts, can connect sites that you already use and see updates in real time. Buzz gives you interesting stuff and weeds out the stuff you are likely to skip. To access Google Buzz from your toolbar, click: Menu > Tools > Google Tools > Google Buzz Try it - Click the Google Buzz button to share our blog post! Our new YouTube video 02/10/2010
Our platform provider, Conduit, have begun a competition for toolbar publishers. The competition requires that a video is created to show how their toolbar system has been of benefit. This is my entry... The above video took several hours of work. Inputting the storyline, editing the animation, etc. I hope that you enjoy the video and that you find it helpful should you have your own website. Please do comment on the video, and feel free to share it with your friends. The video URL is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=znqCTMpRxxM |
